A good business management software package, such as SAP Business One, is widely considered to be one of the best ways of improving efficiency, productivity and communication in any business. Such packages allow for the transfer and storage of client data, sales figures and even payroll details, while also saving money and resources. Ideal for businesses with multiple staff, clients or offices, the software enables internal and external communication to become quicker and more efficient, as well as the sharing of data or documents.

There are many uses for business management software, but one of the main ones is storing and organising the company’s accounts. Given the right software package, transactions, budgeting and even financial reports become quicker and easier. The business is also able to keep greater track of its spending, profits and losses. Even better, implementing a new accounts system is far easier than you may think.

Shakespeare’s Globe is a company known worldwide, attracting thousands of visitors and audience members every year. As a result, it needed an accounts system that was efficient, easy to use, and was suitable for the number of clients it works with. It was decided that a new software package was required; especially since the current system was becoming increasingly old and unsuited to the way the business operated.

The finance department began by drawing up a list of requirements for the new accounts system. Considering the many facets of the Globe (a museum, theatre, gift shop and education department, among others), it was decided that a multi-dimensional operating system was required. This would have the dual advantage of making an already complex accounting system much simpler, as well as allowing the department to compare and contrast various figures when necessary.

Once the operating system was selected, the Globe needed a company that would implement this quickly and easily. It was decided that the company in question would need to understand and respond to the ethos and services of the Globe, as well as tailor the software to suit its needs. After a little research the right company was found, and the implementation process could begin.

The main thing that the Globe is looking forward to is improved productivity and communication between departments, and no wonder. Business management software packages are quickly becoming one of the most popular ways of storing and sharing information, particularly if the company in question offers multiple services to clients. Customer relations can also be dramatically improved by business management software, as the company can store and view an individual customer’s details easily, as well as tailor their service to suit the individual needs of each client.

When considering implementing new business management software, the task can initially seem quite daunting; however, with a little research and the right software package, switching to the new system can be surprisingly easy. You may also see dramatic results fast, particularly if staff are already well-trained in such software. As many businesses expand or take on a wider client base than ever before, the use of a good accounts software package is vital, especially if you’re offering a multi-dimensional service to customers. Can you afford to be left behind?

The move is an attempt to offer a myriad of choices for customers instead of that one package does it all type of approach. They new deals all include Vodafone security for internet and a backup service on line absolutely free as the standard throughout the range including free BT Wi-Fi Openzone access in all but one of the packages.

There are two pay for what you use plans that are ideal for ad-hoc usage says Vodafone. There are contract lengths that are very flexible including 3, 12 and 24 months with all of the range. The direct packages work with any device even tablets, netbooks, laptops, Wi-Fi modems and USB modems. Those that exceed their particular data allowance and additional internet cost’s, will only pay 5p per megabyte.

Users will be able to track their date usage. Vodafone will send to the user’s PC, laptop or tablet a pop up window how much they have used of their package and if they are extra costs incurred. There is an antivirus and restore software standard on the six packages from Vodafone Backup and Restore and is good for the contract’s life.

The packages start as low as £3 per month. The entire range also includes Euro Traveller from Vodafone. Those business customers that sign a minimum of £36,50 per month are given 5GB of data each month to use in the UK and an additional 1GB per month to use in over 35 European destinations.

Mobile broadband customers in the corporate, large business or public sector segments starting from today Vodafone’s Mobile Broadband Prof. option will now contain 2GB BT Wi-Fi Openzone each month, thereby giving those business people on the move the ability to connect wherever they may be.

Developments in high-speed broadband can help provide a boost for Wales businesses it has been claimed by a leading industry body. Federation of Small Businesses in Wales spokesperson Simon Evans said the internet’s emergence and the entrepreneurship potential it holds is enormous.

Cost to set up very low and instant access to the marketplace around the world make this very suited to small business, especially in small rural areas. But he said companies and specifically those in the countryside in Wales are being let down because of slow broadband speeds and poor infrastructure.

Broadband is an essential utility not an added luxury it is similar today to electricity and water. He said Wales cannot be left behind as across the UK high broadband is being rolled out. The Federation of Small Businesses in Wales has raised concerns about the UK growing digital divide and the lack of broadband coverage in the principality.

Results of its 3rd annual study worldwide into how SME’s will utilize cloud services over the term of the next three years. In 16 countries over 3,200 companies that had between two and 250 employees were surveyed.

The use is expected to be a hybrid type environment with the use cloud use for things such as business-class email, accounting and payroll, and collaboration within a number of cloud service SME’s to be paying almost double in most countries over the next years.

The reports findings indicate that businesses will use over three services as compared to less than two now and over 80% of SME’s using a provider with local presence for their cloud services is very important and the larger the business the more likely the expense for cloud service. Over 50% of companies with between 50 and 250 employees will use just under 4 services in the next three years.

The vice president of business channels from Microsoft, Marco Limena says that cloud adoption will be a gradual one and a hybrid model will be used and with an increasing mix between off site and traditional on site infrastructure.

As SME’s existing IT becomes outdated as cloud computing becomes a less ubiquitous practice adoption will grow rapidly. The consideration of delivery, support models and appropriate sales should be thought of by hosting service providers to target larger SME customers that for the most part will be more likely to pay for the cloud services.

When running a small business, you’ll need to take a few business training courses in order to properly succeed. You could enroll in a few You could enroll in a few Microsoft Excel courses, which can help in keeping up with payroll and other type of statistics. If you’re not familiar with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite tools for example Microsoft PowerPoint, then you’ll want to get yourself familiarised with them too. This can help make your business easier to keep organised. A few companies online will help you in setting up courses for your small business.

With a small business, it’s best to have staff-training. You want staff-training because of the fact that you can get everyone trained at the same amount of time and the same speed without having to worry about someone getting lost in the process. Small businesses are pretty fast to get going especially when you have everyone assigned to a specific area. There are sites available online where you can enroll to for courses on an area you need.

Small businesses are encouraged to have some forms of business training courses within their company. This not only helps others in seeing what your company actually needs but it can also appeal to many people working for you. If you’re having a hard time trying to find a course, don’t worry. The company would be more than happy to make a few suggestions on what you may need. For example, most businesses may want to look into enrolling people in a few Microsoft Excel training sessions. In Excel, you’ll learn formulas and how to get data in rows and columns. This is especially great for data entry type of jobs. Of course you want to make sure that most of your staff employers have some type of knowledge within the Microsoft Office Suite. It’s a popular program that’s used by many businesses so without due knowledge, it’ll be difficult to keep things organised.

For businesses that want to connect with their clientele through clever media usage, social networking websites are a fantastic way to enhance the efficiency of content; with print advertising and direct mail nowhere near as popular or efficient as they once were, turning to the Internet is a great way of targeting new and existing customers. As browsing habits can be determined by age, gender and interests –plus plenty more besides – social networks are incredibly useful tools for business.

So how do you make a social network work for you? Well, if you do have social media pages running, you need to make sure people know about them and that they are updated frequently. You will generate hype about your Facebook and Twitter pages (as well as any additional networks you are joining soon) in the monthly newsletter you email to customers. This will result in stronger connections with your most loyal customers, and an online buzz that will attract new interest. So, when highlighting social media in your newsletter, what should you be doing?

For starters, you should dedicate a section to allow subscribers to have their say: a place for their messages to be heard and published. The amount of space in your newsletter you dedicate to this is up to you. Just publishing a few messages from Twitter, or re-tweeting something you received from one of your followers, will give your media efforts that extra dimension of interactivity. If someone knows that they are able to make contributions and that they will be heard, it is likelier they’ll be inspired to get in touch.

Social network software is also a fantastic investment of your time if you want to run a promotion or another marketing scheme. Notifying your readers through your periodical or an auto-responder message will raise your business’s profile in their public awareness. Also, if the promotion offers something in demand among your client base, the traffic to your website and subsequent conversion rates you experience will hopefully be very promising.

The facilities on websites like Facebook encourage communication through different approaches. In some respects, social networking is doubling up as an additional arm to the public relations and customer service divisions you may already have in your business.

Discussion boards and forums will allow members of your pages to ask and answer questions that surround your products or services. An even better idea could be to get a social media representative to monitor the activity on your pages for you. This ensures any prominent issues raised on your social networking website will be resolved swiftly by someone in your workforce.

A great way to establish a bond with your customers, as well as a brand, is to use social networking to show clients what goes on behind the scenes. The understanding of how your operation works also shows how the product or service they buy is brought to retail. In more cases than not, this will allow users of a page to appreciate how hard you work to help them, which in turn will raise your credibility.

Business opportunities are never far away when a social network is involved. Even though some services are intended for personal use, another entrepreneur or executive in a company who sees your pages might be inspired to get in touch. After that, further discussions could result in that lucrative deal that you and your team had been striving for.

Creating your own social network website also means that boundaries and limits set by existing pages will be removed. Sometimes, branding is far stronger when all of the websites across your output have the same design and colour scheme. A social media presence is adaptable to your specifications because it results in a person’s association of a certain look and feel with your business: the perfect outcome.

Dependent on which sector you are in, the social network you establish could be the service you offer instead of something ancillary. In these cases, you need to try and plan how sustainable income streams will be gained from the website created. Thinking about the different approaches and their flexibility is worthwhile. For example: could you establish a membership service where users have to pay a set fee in order to gain access? Is advertising a viable option and if so, which online methods would be the most profitable and feasible to use?

When deciding how a social network will be able to enhance the accessibility of your product to customers, planning is essential. These days, it is all about unique selling points and standing out from the crowd. This new form of media is becoming an essential addition to the marketing strategies of businesses in every industry, so you want careful thought to go into your service so it is popular and more resourceful than alternatives from your rivals.

Of course, businesses aren’t the only entities which benefit from social media. Charitable organisations and voluntary establishments also need a place to compile their ideas, discussions and communities. It is too easy for meetings by charities to be intermittent because of the difficulties in getting everyone together at once. However, getting all of the members in a committee to bring ideas to a website means that productivity is at the convenience of the volunteer, and this is the great advantage of the humble social network. If a website should need to be the hub for progress, it needs to be accessible.

Whatever the purpose, social media is a revolution which is making businesses and charities do far more for their customers.

We live in a 24-hour society where we are hungry for information at a times that suit us. Creating a network for your customers will boost their knowledge of who you are, making them familiar with products they didn’t know you offered. In consequence, they will come to you for such goods in the future, while recommending you to friends in the process. If this doesn’t make social media important and worthwhile, then what does?

United Planet has incorporated a special “page wizard” with Intrexx 5, the latest version of its popular enterprise portal software. This new wizard allows companies to make their business data and web applications ‘mobile’ in no time at all. It will enable companies to provide their employees with access to important business information via smartphones and tablet PCs even when they are out of the office.

According to IDC, the number of mobile employees is to increase to around 1.2 billion by the year 2013. This will result in a corresponding increase in demand for mobile business solutions – whether to communicate with employees in the field or to provide supervisors and management access to important information whilst they are away from the office.

The new page wizard (www.unitedplanet.com/en/mobile) simplifies the process of converting applications and forms from an organisation’s intranet, with a simple ‘point and click’. Without programming, a company can create its own mobile applications in three easy steps:

• Step one: Set up the core web application with Intrexx and select the mobile device that will be used to access the application, e.g. iPhone or BlackBerry.
• Step two: Select the preferred page type and data fields that are to be displayed on the device.
• Step three: Intrexx automatically suggests a complete application page, optimised for the selected device and featuring the typical buttons and workflows. Edit the page according to meet your business needs and create the final layout.

Axel Wessendorf, CEO of United Planet, is convinced that the new iPad will play an important role as the move to ‘go mobile’ accelerates: “The possibilities are enormous: just imagine the benefits when employees are at a conference and have easy access to all company information – without having to boot up their chunky laptops.”

To show companies what an effective balance of work in the office and out-of-the-office can look like in modern times, United Planet has created a sample enterprise portal that can be accessed via a desktop PC as well as via a mobile device. To access the portal, just follow this link www.intrexx.com/motorsportlimited and log in with PeterM (no password needed).

Online publishing has been around for a decade, since people first started putting their text files on the Internet to share. Of course, publisher software has come a long way since then, and digital magazine versions are now increasingly sophisticated.

If you’ve not considered the advantages of online publishing, or thought about using self publishing software to create an online magazine, book or other product, including music and images, now could be the time to consider doing so.

Digital publishing can help you to reach an almost unlimited global audience. You may well find that, if you also have a printed version, paper magazine subscriptions go up as a result of the increased exposure. A digital magazine gives a reader a chance to view the product in detail before committing to long-term magazine subscriptions.

Digital publishing is also much cheaper, with almost nothing in the way of start-up, type-setting or delivery costs.

Using publishing software to self publish your own digital magazine or other product means deadlines can be self-imposed rather than dictated by printing press or advertising deadlines. If your online magazine does carry adverts, your advertisers will love the extra exposure, and the way your product can potentially reach billions of people much more cheaply than paper magazine subscriptions.

Unlike bookshops or newsagents’, the Internet is always open for business, with people able to view the digital magazine of their choice whenever they like.

If you thought self publishing a digital magazine or book using publisher software required vast amounts of technical expertise, think again. Modern publishing software makes it easier than ever to experiment, and the room for creativity is just about endless. Digital publishing also means there is never really a final version of your digital magazine, since you can use the publishing software to change your online magazine as often as you want.

Publisher software also allows you to control administration and all costings electronically, saving you time and money. At the same time, publishing software means you can track crucial reader statistics and see exactly how your readers are behaving at the push of a few buttons.

The other thing about digital publishing, whether you’re self publishing a digital magazine, a web-based novel or anything else, is that it’s the environmentally friendly option, No paper means no trees are cut down for wood pulp, and no road deliveries, so no carbon emissions from delivery vehicles.

Self publishing online is also great for you readers. Many people just love the chance to be able to enjoy a digital magazine for free. They’ll also love the chance to give you instant feedback on your online magazine or novel, and to interact with each other by discussing your online magazine on one of the many online publishing forums around.

If you’re serious about looking into publisher software, think about Yudu Publishing Pro. This software allows you to self publish an online magazine with your own branding. It includes a system for full and close monitoring of reader behaviour, and a magazine subscriptions management system, among many other features.

Take a closer a look at how digital publishing could transform your product today, and reach a new worldwide audience, by seeing what Yudu Publishing Pro has to offer.
